2018 - the year of Awards!
Over 2018 we have been awarded a number of prestigious awards for our Single Malts and our Distillery & Visitor Centre in Lochranza. This is true testament to the fantastic quality of our liquid and our welcome here at our Lochranza Distillery on Arran.
One runaway winner was our Arran 10 year old with 7 awards including Gold at the prestigious San Francisco Spirits Competition, the World Whiskies Awards, the International Wine & Spirits Competition and The Scotch Whisky Masters Asia.
Our 18 year old also won Gold at the latter three awards proving that with age comes great maturity when it comes to our whisky.
For those who haven't yet tried our Quarter Cask 'The Bothy' expression, it has also picked up a number of awards over 2018, winning its category of Best Unaged Single Malt and Gold Medal at the World Whiskies Awards. With intense tropical notes, coconut and vanilla sweetness, this cask strength wonder is indeed well worth discovering if you haven't already.
Also performing well this year were our Lochranza Reserve Single Malt and our Machrie Moor Peated Arran Malt. Each of these expressions show a different side to our classic Arran Malt character; Lochranza Reserve is full of fresh vanilla and citrus notes, whilst the Machrie Moor shows off the peatier style of our whisky with a twist of smoke in the tail!
We were also delighted to be awarded the ASVA Award for Best Visitor Experience of the Year 2018 (ASVA stands for Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions). There are around 450 members of ASVA including top visitor attractions such as The Scotch Whisky Experience, Historic Scotland sites and The Kelpies. This is a prestigious award voted for by industry experts and our team are absolutely delighted to have been awarded such an accolade. Pictured below here is Master Distiller James MacTaggart toasting the award on behalf of the whole of the team our Lochranza Distillery and Visitor Centre site.
Our new Lagg Distillery will be opening its doors in Spring 2019 and we are very excited about what the year ahead has in store for us. If you haven't already read about our Lagg Distillery and how you can get involved in becoming part of our Lagg Cask Society, click here to read more.
